K6 Peak (also known as Baltistan Peak) is a peak in the Masherbrum Mountains range of the mighty Karakoram of Pakistan. It is 7,282 meters (or 25,659ft) high. It is ranked at 89th highest in the world and 40th highest in Pakistan. It is part of the Masherbrum Mountains which also includes mountains such as Masherbrum, Chogholisa and Baltoro Kangri.
K6 Peak (Baltistan Peak) lies in the Ghanche District of Gilgit-Baltistan near the famous Baltoro Glacier. This region is famous amongst climbers for the vast range of high glaciers and peaks. K6 Peak is the highest peak in the area surrounding the Charakusa Glacier near the Hushe Valley.
The Karakoram Mountain Range is a massive chain of mountains across Pakistan and China that hosts one of the greatest mountains of the world, including including K2 and Gasherbrum. It is 500km long and 200km wide and connects with Hindu Kush and Himalaya Mountains at few points. It is now home to many different valleys and people across the region including Skardu, Hunza and Gilgit.
Two different routes can be taken to K6 Peak, one through the Gondogoro Pass and the other through Askole.
Askole is recommended because it helps with acclimatized and the Gondogoro Pass is used by climbers on the way back as it is at almost 5600m high.
