Masherbrum

Masherbrum (also known as K1) is a peak in the mighty Karakorum Mountain range. It is 7,821 meters (or 25,659ft) high and is located in the Ghanche District, Gilgit-Baltistan. The peak is also near to the Baltoro Glacier and has views of the peaks that include one of the highest in the world such as K2, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum (I, II, III and IV). It falls in the Masherbrum mountains which is the sub-range of the Karakorum Mountains. Masherbrum Expedition is an expedition to the 22nd highest peak in the world and 9th highest in Pakistan. The first successful ascent to Masherbrum was carried out by an American-Pakistani Expedition led by Goerge Bell and Willi Unsoeld. Masherbrum Peak Expedition starts from Askole via Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Skardu is a city in Gilgit-Baltistan and serves as the capital of Skardu district. The best time for the ascent to the summit is during the Summers of Pakistan between May to August.The Baltoro Glacier is the route most commonly used to access the 8000m peaks of the Karakoram, and many trekkers also travel on the Baltoro.
