Uli Biaho Tower (6,109 m) stands north of the Baltoro Glacier next to the Trango Towers. It was first climbed in 1979 by the Americans John Roskelley, Ron Kauk, Bill Forrest and Kim Schmitz, a climb that was then one of the hardest big wall ascents at high altitude. It remains a serious and rarely climbed objective. Base Camp is on the Trango Glacier, four days from Askole.

Day 3Fly to Skardu (2,230 m)Morning flight past Nanga Parbat to Skardu, about one hour. If the flight is cancelled, we drive the Karakoram Highway instead. Overnight in hotel.

Day 5Jeep from Skardu to Askole (3,000 m)About 7 hours by jeep through the Shigar valley and along the Braldu river to Askole. Meet the porters. Overnight in tent.
Day 6Askole to Jhola (3,200 m)About 6 hours along the Braldu river, crossing the snout of the Biafo Glacier. Overnight in tent.
Day 7Jhola to Paiju (3,450 m)About 6 to 7 hours with the first views of the Paiju peaks and the Trango group. Overnight in tent.
Day 8Paiju to Trango Base Camp (about 4,000 m)Walk up the Baltoro and turn north onto the Trango Glacier to Base Camp below the towers. Overnight in tent.
Day 9 to 30Climbing period on Uli Biaho Tower (6,109 m)Technical rock and mixed climbing on steep granite, with fixed lines on the lower wall and a push for the summit in good weather.
